16 July 2007

Final weeks: from June 9th until July 1st 2008

The next 3 weeks I'll be working on
  • SOGA: filling my part of the State Of the Global Association (SOGA), a global survey that every MC has to fill in twice a year. AIESEC International (AI) collects numbers and facts from the MCs that help the other AIESEC entities to have a clearer picture of where we stand as an organisation
  • Annual Report: supervision of this publication. Distribution of the tasks to the other MC members, writing some of the content, finding the proper pictures, communication with Ander Group, etc.
  • MC team to team transition: supervision of the transition (basically a 10-day conference for 6 delegates with sessions from 9 to 18h! cf. below), coordination with the MC and MCe, creation of the outlines of some sessions, preparing these sessions, meetings and dry-runs.
  • Company paper: I'm writting a document for the National Support Group (NSG) and the Advisory Council (AdCo) that will hopefully answer some of their uncertainties on AIESEC activities.
  • AIESEC 60th anniversary in Switzerland: coordination with the NST alumni and Nadja, the OCP for this event happening on September 20th. Some news will come very soon. Stay tuned!
  • Coaching LC Lausanne: well, last coaching with the EB of LC Lausanne! :-(
  • LCPM: preparation of the last LCPM of our term
  • Putting some order in my stuff and preparing to leave...
From June 21st to July 1st

MC team to team transition! As you could understand from above, and now that individual transition is almost over with our successors, we're having 10 consecutive days (except on the 29th, final of the Euro Cup :-)) of team to team transition, with sessions from 9.00 to 18.00. On July 1st, your MC elect will be officially your current MC and ready to perform! Serious and fun time ahead.. MCe, get ready!

Best moments
  • A fascinating 1-hour visit of a very antique room where the governement of Geneva has met for the last half millennium. And is still meeting there every week!
  • Having dinner for the 60th anniversary of my dad in the kitchen of a delicous restaurant.
  • Obama clinching the democrating nomination for President. Historic moment.
  • Watching Roland Garros on TV with friends. Unfortunately, Roger Federer lost dramatically... But Wimbledon is coming up! Go Roger!!
  • The start of the Euro Cup. Hop Schwiiz!!

About Luca

MC position Vice President External Relations

Date and place of birth June 17th 1982, Geneva

Nationality (origins) Swiss, Peruvian (with palestinian and argentinian blood)

Languages French, spanish, english, some german and some rudiments of italian. I wish I could be fluent in german! Thanks to Anna and Simone I've already improved it ;-) Final goal: explaining the benefits for a company to work with graduates who went through the "AIESEC Erfahrung". I'm on my way...

I ran for MC because I simply couldn't see myself quitting AIESEC after my EB term! And I was certain to find everything I was looking for: a very challenging job, lots of reponsibilities, an international and young environment, independency, many travels in and outside Switzerland. Investing one year of my life at this point of time in such an opportunity seemed to me to be totally worth it. And it is.

Ideal internship destination Somewhere in Latin America

Childhood ambition Professional fencer

Current ambition I feel that I am at a crossroad of my life, that everything can change within one year. And that's very exciting. However, I have in mind something probably a bit more meaningful and realistic than my childhood ambition although it can totally change in one year: working for the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs. It would nourish my passion for international relations, deepen my understanding of other countries and cultures, travel and meet diverse and interesting people. See you in one year for a check.

I love summer, dancing, krumping, sports, watching Federer play and win, series (24, Prison Break, Heroes), Peru, Stefano's view on R&R, and of course: kiffing la life

Favorite books Belle du Seigneur (A.Cohen), Solal (A.Cohen), La Chute (A.Camus), Un Amour de Swann (M.Proust), 1984 (G.Orwell), Farenheit 451 (R.Bradbury), Making Globalization Work (J.Stiglitz)

Favorite movies American Beauty, Brokeback Mountain, Dancing with the Wolves, Cyrano de Bergerac, Dodgeball, Along Came Polly, The Rock, Kill Bill 1, Matrix 1, Spiderman 1, Bowling For Columbine, Thirteen Days, JFK, Rize
